2021 Year Review

Each year it’s good to write about what you accomplished so you can brag about it and hopefully make others feel terrible, if not suicidal. It’s also good to remind yourself that failure is a part of life, often a huge one. Almost a defining part of life, some would say. Remember: Everyone better than you at something is good, everyone at your level or worse is incompetent.

So how did I do in 2021?

Well first, the thing I spent the most time on, cycling:

While my goal of gaining muscle definitely interfered with my w/kg ( cycling nerd speak for how strong vs skinny you are ), I felt strong all year and definitely improved the power I can sustain for hours quite a bit. Downside of being heavier is that climbing is just about all I did.

HOW DID I DO ON MY 2021 RESOLUTIONS?

1- Learn about corporate taxes and investing through multiple corporate accounts. - PASS

There’s not that much to do. Maybe next year I will try to file my own taxes. The important part of this is that I bought some Dogecoins:

2-Find a place to live: - HOLD

I may or may not have car camping / dating plans for most of this year, making when/where I move still up in the air. Possible travel with Covid as well. I at least figured that I’m not going back to Quebec any time soon.

3-Put on 10 pounds of muscle - ????

Well I didn’t weigh myself, but I have pictures. I will make a separate progress post on this. I did a lot of hours of lifting weights, but never hardcore gym bro lifting. I rate my buffness as 2/10 ( up from 1/10 ) and compared to the pro cyclist average of -5/10.

4-Get a car: SUCCESS!

5-Discover 50 new songs: 28 / 50 - FAILED

I kind of can’t believe I failed at this but it really was getting tedious wading through endless hours of trash and so-so music. Like, this is where I ended up at eventually: Crevice Tool Song.

But hey it’s on me to not have listened to more. One human brain can only take so much rap.

Let’s pretend I didn’t fail. Look, I thought it’d be cool but I just can’t invest the time and money into this for now and classes were closed by the time I started looking more seriously at this. Still open to try in the future.

7- Sell one altered Magic: The Gathering card: SUCCESS!

By my count I’m currently up 850$ on this little hobby. It was really nice to see that if I wanted to “go back to work” I likely could pad my income by doing these alters. I will definitely come back to this.

8- Keep this blog updated and do a mid-year reassessment: SUCCESS!

I mean I made a whole new blog! I started the year on this site: https://poxpower.wixsite.com/website
But I ported over all my old art / flash/ whatever on this new blog here that hopefully will be more permanent. Hey I’m even PAYING for this one! I promise at least 12 update in 2022.

SO WHAT’S NEXT?

Will make 2022 resolutions soon! Many things about my life are currently undecided.
